1,000 readers strong!

Just a few days ago we passed the 1000 reader mark just 48 days into writing this publication.
I hope it has been helpful to the readers; it’s been real tough on the writer. Writing like this
will surely anger some dealers and other similar on-line web papers so if you see any “retaliation”
from them you know it will be just that.

It’s been and interesting week though. Alexander Autographs has moved back the sale date of their first Rock and Roll auction. There were some changing of the guards there and we wish them the best! They are a really good bunch of people over there.

RnR seemed to have a very strong auction this month with some very choice items fetching a pretty good sum. Even in these tough economic times collectables still seem to do well. So many times there are just once in a lifetime chances to buy the item you always wanted and when it comes up you just have to buy it or you may never see one again! You’ll figure out how to pay for it later. I collect guitars and have had this happen to me many times over. These items are usually solid investments too because you weren’t the only one bidding on the item.

Keep an eye out for Heritage’s next Entertainment Auction! From the sneak previews I have seen there are going to be some STUNNING items up for grabs. Get your catalog, sign up and get ready to bid. This is a class act auction house too!

Thanks again for reading and I will be updating this as quickly as I can!

Hats off to Steve Cyrkin!

Autograph Magazine has been known to take the path of least resistance by its former owners but Steve Cyrkin, editor and publisher of Autograph Magazine has gone way above and beyond what any publication of this kind has ever done.

Autograph Magazine shows no mercy nor backs down to the lies, forgers and just plain bad people in the autograph arena. They call them like they see them and that is very bold in this day and age. No crook, dealer, Gallery, forger or on line forum seems to have a chance with their incredible investigative reporting. If you want to know the truth about what’s going on in the business Autograph Magazine is a good source.

I can only hope that they keep up the good work and help protect the unsuspecting collectors out there who have been lied to and ripped off so blindly in the past.

Other on line sites like www.autographalert.com avoid Autograph Collector’s questions like the plague as they only seek true and honest journalism. Smoke screens, avoiding or just plain dancing around the questions are what’s done when the real straight questions are asked. Steve Cyrkin is not afraid to say who he is when asking these tough questions then www.autographalert.com hides behind an invisible wall avoiding questions and acting like Stephen Koschal is not the one writing the biased website. Just do a Google search on Stephen Koschal and you will seek the truth of who is writing this nonsense.

If you are ever in a great mood and just want to loose all faith in this great industry I advise you go to www.autographalert.com. With the negativity that surrounds this site you will soon be ready to take yourself to the lowest point your mind can take you thanks to the editor Stephen Koschal. Another idea is if you think you have had a really bad day read www.autographalert.com and you will know that the writer Stephen Koschal had a much worse one.

AutographAlertTruth.com is Grateful and Shocked
www.AutographAlertTruth.com is not grateful for some make believe emails from our readers and BS guarantees of donating money to fund a lawsuit. No it’s for the over 800+ readers of this site in just its first month of existence. With no advertising this is amazing. It shows what the power of positive thought can accomplish. I was hoping for 100 readers in the first month but wow did I underestimate this! Again thanks and keep reading. There will be much more to come!

I was going to do this article on a real forensic examiner but something else has come up that I believe needs to be brought up first for the safety of our collectors.

There are a number of sites opening up what seems like every day on the internet selling tons of non authentic signed material. I have been getting bombarded with this stuff lately and I feel I should educate the buyers on this stuff.

Some web sites are offering signed guitars (some have 5-10 of them) by, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix; Jim Morrison the list goes on. They are using sometimes older guitars to make them seem more authentic looking. Let’s set the record straight, signing guitars was not done back in the 60’s and 70’s. I’m not saying it couldn’t have happened it just wasn’t done. There is only one known guitar that is signed by all 4 Beatles and it is also signed by The Rolling Stones and a couple other group members. It is signed in ballpoint and not in really good condition. Of the others mentioned there has never been an authentically one signed by any of these groups to ever surface. Please folks be aware that these types of items are not authentic. They certainly would not show up in bulk in some on line store. An item of that magnitude would be in Sotheby’s or Christies for the worldwide exposure it would get for an item in such demand. I saw a Led Zeppelin signed guitar on a website that was signed in a silver gel pen. John Bonham died in 1980 and this type of pen was not invented until 1983. I also saw a Zep guitar signed by all 4 on a Galveston model gold flake Stratocaster. The parent company of the maker of this guitar did not form in business until 1986, six years after the death of John Bonham. When dishing out this kind of cash on an item stop and think…could this really have happened. Also ask the questions on the origin of the item and trace the story back. Google searches will put an end to nearly any bull crap story any dealer of forged material try to tell you.

Another rule of thumb, no super group like the Stones, Zeppelin or Pink Floyd would do any kind of private signing for a company. Bob Dylan is the exception to the rule but he signed harmonicas for Hohner but charged $5000 each and limited them to 100 items. These types of bands don’t need the money for silly signings. To get the 3 remaining members of Led Zeppelin to fly in for a private signing would cost upwards of a half a million dollars with airfare and hotels and limos. If these galleries that say they did a private signing of 40 guitars for them they would have to sell them for $12,500 each just to break even. They would also contracts signed which I would request to see stating that they did in fact do this signing.

Please people, be careful, this is a lot of money.
